Rosana Ibarrola is an Argentinean artist living and working in Manchester. She grew up in Misiones, a province in the North of Argentina, bordering Paraguay and Brazil. At the University of Buenos Aires she studied for a degree in Graphic Design.
In her portraits she captures the characters and moods of her sitters. Never limiting herself to one medium, she works with ink, charcoal, pastel and oil paint, depending on the tone of the piece and light conditions on the day that she paints. Ibarrola’s paintings reveal her design background through her creative compositions and vivid colour schemes, yet her classical training is obvious in the development of technique and skill that she exhibits.
Using real women as her models gives Rosana’s paintings a fresh and spontaneous feeling, full of emotions with a bold and bright palette. We that can feel some of their inner stories, as well as see their beautiful bodies. Rosana’s images capture the soul of heroines; everyday women who find strength in their femininity.
