Kathy Ramsay Carr spent most of her childhood in British Colombia, returning there in the 1970’s after graduating from the Bath Academy of Art. She then travelled to Mexico where she lived and worked for many years as the head of design in the National University of Mexico.
She now lives and works in Devon, working in an idyllic studio with stunning views overlooking the countryside towards Dartmoor. Her professional background has enabled her to work as an artist who has a clear understanding of the complexities of her chosen medium, oil paint. Will apparent ease she captures the majesty of the landscape along with more subtle and intimate responses to light and colour.
As well as walking through the Devon countryside Carr frequently visits North Cornwall, West Scotland and Whales, finding inspiration in the rugged coastlines and spacious beaches. Her paintings during these trips are most often direct and distinctive responses to the landscapes in which she finds herself.
