Mo Enright

Mo Enright was born and raised in the beautiful National Park area of the Hambleton Hills in North Yorkshire. After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art, went on to gain an MA in the History of Art and is now a  full-time professional artist working from Art-E Studios in Warwickshire.   Mo's work is primarily oil on canvas or panel, however, the location and the environment for a particular commission may suggest an alternative set of criteria, which is always taken into consideration. Mo's work is to be found in corporate and private collections worldwide.
The environment and places from childhood currently inform the work. Mo does not work from photographs, but simply goes to particular places, soaks up the spirit of the time and place, sometimes making brief sketches or notes, then returns to the studio, and seeks to recapture on canvas the moment or the emotion of the time, place or the event. The 'sense of place' that the artist searches for is brilliantly captured by the use of colour, creating form and space within. These paintings have a captivating magic about them that draws you back again and again. (SC)

“The landscape/elements and childhood memories feature strongly as a point of reference for my work. I endeavour to recapture the emotional response of a particular place or experience, not creating a topographical likeness, but exploring the inspiring reality of the situation. My work is primarily concerned with creating a sense of place and the desire to depict the spirit of a particular instant before it is gone.  The fusing of past to present brings fear and excitement of an ever changing landscape that kindles the passion for my painting. My most recent work is addressing ‘The Carbon Footprint’ and the ‘Legacy’ we are leaving.”                                                                                                    Mo Enright
