Gianni Allegra
Gianni Allegra has published several satirical books, notably ‘I Gattopardi’ in 1991, ‘La prima republica non si scorda mai’ in 1995, ‘Centonove vignette’ in 1996, ‘Poveri ma brutti’ in 1998 and Lo stato dei disoccupati in 2000.
In 1999 he was awarded the prestigous Italian prize, ‘Pino Zac’, for political satire in Forte dei Marmi.

Allegra is the resident illustrator for the newspaper La Republica.
His illustrations have appeared in Italy’s most prestigious magazines, Ventiquattro, Il Caffe’ Illustrato and in the U.S.A. Vanity Fair.
Allegra founded a new department at the University of Palermo specialising in the ‘La Scuola del Fumetto Palermitano’ (artistic comic strip).
He has had success in creating short political films, notably through the animated film ‘Casa Machi’. More recently he has participated in a series of themed exhibitions each focusing on the human condition.

Allegra has worked with the writer Marcello Benfante on the adult fable ‘The Sad Ballad of the City of Mice’. 2005
At the present time Allegra is working on ‘Il Giocatore’ (the player), a graphic novel written in collaboration with the director Roberta Torre.
