Andy Craggs

Andy Craggs is a London based photographer who has been working with various forms of photography for over fifteen years.

Andy's Choice is to focus on cultural documentary - he captures the lives of people, varied cultures and diverse environments. His personal projects have included profiles of Tibet, China, Nepal, Vietnam, Pakistan and Morocco. He also specialises in profiles of world cities and has extensively documented London, Paris and Venice among others.

Andy also works in the commercial sector covering travel, leisure, fashion, portraiture, events and entertainment. He is actively involved in promoting young talent in the performing arts, including dance, music, fashion and design.

Andy's work within the humanitarian sector is extensive and gives his photography a certain sense of realism as opposed to romanticism. He has collaborated with organisations such as the World Health Oganisation for documentaries on world health and social issues in Tanzania, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Thailand and Haiti.

Andy's personal art projects include studies in architecture, portraits and nature. He captures the very essence of sites he visits. Familiar places such as Venice take on a new perspective, Andy doesn't merely take a snap shot of what he sees. The composition of any given images is clearly planned and considered. Taking inspiration from the very greatest historical figures in the world of photography suach as Henri Cartier Bresson, Cecil Beaton and Annie Leibowitz, Andy creates images that are both familiar and at the same time unexpected.

"Photography us a means of connecting with people" says Andy. "I try to make images that tell a story or connect with our emotions. Pictures should serve the purpose of sharing - sharing ideas, information and insight that can move people to action."
